About

Sustainable, green buildings are rising in popularity. As part of our case study series to educate and grow in our attempts to make the world a greener home for all of us, we’ve compiled this list of 100 stunning and innovative green building projects. Amongst the towering buildings central to Washington DC stands the Milken Institute School of Public Health. Its outward appearance suits the urbanized setting, but inside occupants experience a space that highlights the power of nature and embraces the goals of sustainable architecture. As an educational building facilitating classes focused around public health, this facility was built to embody those lessons as a living example. Light, space, and opportunities for social interaction exist throughout the building. Environmentally conscious architectural elements are also incorporated throughout the space including the green roof, smart energy usage systems, and complex water management methods. These alongside other sustainable efforts have earned the Milken Institute School of Public Health the title of LEED Platinum. This facility stands as an example of the possibilities for sustainability that exist even with densely urbanized areas of a nation’s capital. This video and audio-based course will provide you with even more information on how this building’s design and construction impacts its environment.
