Bristol Community College John J. Sbrega Health and Science Building is part of GBRI’s case study series where we look at amazing green building projects from around the world.

This educational facility overhaul took on the ambitious task of mixing sustainability with the needs of modern high-tech laboratory space. It’ goal, to provide experience-driven learning opportunities to students who would otherwise not have an opportunity to obtain such an involved education. The building’s architect, Sasaki, made sure that the structure lived up to the expectations of this quality academic facility.

In total, this 50,000 square foot building contains three floors, 18 fume hoods, multiple educational spaces, and sustainable solar energy production. All while increasing natural light and ventilation and decreasing the operational cost by an estimated $103,000 annually.
