This course explores Arupโs Melbourne workplace, one of the first professional services offices globally to achieve WELL v2 Platinum Certification. Through a detailed case study, participants will examine how design, operations, and organizational culture were integrated to create a high-performance, employee-centered workplace. The course highlights practical applications of WELL strategies across movement, biophilia, nourishment, circadian lighting, community, and equity within a real-world urban context.
Arup, a globally recognized engineering and design consultancy, reimagined its Melbourne workplace with a clear objective: to create a healthy, collaborative, and high-performing environment that reflects its values and commitment to employee well-being. Located within the transformative Melbourne Quarter precinct, the Arup Workplace occupies Levels 1โ3 and overlooks one of the largest public green spaces in Melbourneโs CBD. The project was designed with wellness as a foundational principle, embedding health strategies into architecture, interior design, workplace policies, and operational practices. The result is one of the first professional services workplaces in Australiaโand globallyโto achieve WELL v2 Platinum Certification, the highest level of recognition under the WELL Building Standard. Rather than viewing WELL as a checklist, Arup used it as a framework to align design excellence, sustainability, employee health, and corporate culture. Through this course, participants will gain a practical understanding of how WELL v2 strategies can be translated into real-world design decisionsโand how healthy buildings can elevate organizational performance.
