This sustainable floating home could help you ride out rising sea waters and climate change | GBRI

Now here is a ‘floating’ home that is hurricane-proof (as claimed by its designers!) and probably the best solution to rising sea levels around the world! Designed by ARKUP in association with Koen Olthius- a Dutch “water architect”- these 4,350 square foot sustainable floating houses are self-sufficient and have 4 bedrooms that can sleep 8 people comfortably.

The designers of this floating home claim that it is “environmentally friendly, powered by solar energy, no fuel, zero emission, equipped with waste management, rainwater harvesting and purification systems, our livable yachts are totally off-the-grid.”

You don’t need to worry about getting seasick either; unlike a boat it has four “spuds”, 40 foot long hydraulic legs that that can stabilize or even lift the home right out of the water. But if the neighbors get noisy there are 2 136 horsepower electric thrusters that can move you somewhere else at 7 knots.
