Water conservation includes all of the policies, programs and practices designed to help you use less water. The goal is to use only the water you need; for example, turning off the water when you brush your teeth, or only running the dishwasher when it’s full. Water conservation technologies and strategies are often the most overlooked aspects of a whole-building design strategy. However, the planning for various water uses within a building is increasingly becoming a high priority, due to increasing water scarcity. Water conservation methods can include system optimization, rainwater harvesting, and water reuse/recycling systems such as greywater.
