Although you may think of sustainability as a term only pertaining to the environment, sustainability can actually cover a multitude of topics. It may come as a surprise that the most well-known definition of sustainability doesn’t even mention anything directly about the environment. “Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” (Bruntland Commission). The three pillars of sustainability are commonly known as society, environment, and economy. By keeping all of these spheres at harmony with one another, we can begin to realize global compatibility and unity through sustainability.
