The Panama Canal Expansion Programme was initiated in 2007, which consisted of several Contracts. The largest project is the Third Set of Locks with a contract price of $3.16 Billion. Other projects included dredging and widening shipping routes in the Gatun Lake and Ocean entrances. Environmental and social measures include environmental impact assessment, ecological compensation, reforestation, archeological and wildlife rescue, air and water quality, inspections and monitoring.
